Every era brings its own test of citizenship. Ours may not ask us to load muskets, storm beaches, or march across bridges. But it does ask us to resist cynicism, remain hopeful, and step forward when retreat feels easier.
The problem is that many Americans who care deeply about our country are no longer sure what they can do to make a difference.
Senior Citizens for America is pleased to present two engaging and hopeful programs designed to help move us from worry to action.
Through brief presentations, interactive polls, conversation, and inspiring stories of ordinary citizens making a difference, the September 24th Zoom session will explore what is happening to our civic life, why so many of us feel discouraged or powerless, and how rebuilding trust, relationships, and community can help turn that around.
The October 3rd session will be a powerful in-person rally of citizens to build enthusiasm and support for the November election. Whatever your registration, we all have a stake in protecting our franchise; in a large, informed, and determined voter turnout; and, in the end, a free and fair expression of America’s will. There will be high-level, inspiring speakers; catered food; music; opportunities for the exchange of ideas; and take-aways for use as November 3 nears.

Program Details
Sept. 24th Zoom session from 4 to 5:30 p.m. (Eastern Time): Cultivating the Power of Citizenship: Marshalling What Is Right with America
This 90-minute session has been designed to permit broad and convenient access, whatever your location. It will be moderated by Richard (“Rick”) McKnight, Ph.D., a psychologist, writer, and artist who has written the pivotal book When We the People Lead the Leaders Will Follow. You can connect through computer, laptop, or handheld device, and take part from your home, place of work, school, or any location with internet access. Following brief introductory presentations and real stories from peers, a variety of techniques, including instant community polling, will be used to develop awareness of the power we all have as citizens. Participants will understand the forces driving today’s civic turbulence, will be invited to name their feelings about the country, and will recognize how trustbuilding action restores both personal agency and democratic health.
In advance of the program, participants will be notified of log-in information and any other instruction they might need.
Oct. 3rd In-Person Rally from 3 to 5 p.m. (Eastern Time): Moving From Empowerment to Action: Ensuring a Free and Fair Election in November
In these times, elections need their own advocates! This rally will bring citizens together to share the excitement and importance of protecting and enabling the most important function of a democracy, holding free and fair elections. The venue is centrally located in Southeastern Pennsylvania and easily reached by car or van. The modern main meeting room of the church can comfortably hold over 250 attendees. The doors will open at 2:30 p.m. and close at 5:30. The country music group Meadowlark will be performing as guests arrive, and beverages and catered food will be on offer until the program begins. Central to the program will be several short presentations, a keynote speech from an important public official, inter-participant information sharing, and an inspiring close, including the singing of civic songs accompanied by a professional pianist. Come share your enthusiasm with others and leave with fresh ideas about how you can make a difference in November!
Detailed directions will be supplied to all registrants before October 3, and take-away materials will be provided at the end of the program. Both cars and vans are welcome. There is ample room for parking. Please note: for those who are unable to attend in person, the event will be live streamed so that people from around the country can follow the proceedings!
